"We, the People, are the rightful masters of
both the Congress and the Courts. Not to overthrow the Constitution, but
to overthrow the men who have perverted it" -Abraham
Lincoln -

The United States is not a democracy. The U.S. is a constitutionally
limited republic and it must remain a republic if we are to remain free.
Yet few Americans understand the critical distinction between these two
incompatible forms of government. Democracy gives the majority power to
destroy your liberty and your property. Our national constitution, by contrast,
expressly protects your liberty and your property.
Politicians and the media bombard us with the message that America is
a democracy. They attempt to equate the "will of the people"
or "popular support" with political and legal legitimacy. The
underlying message is clear: democracy is noble, the Constitution is irrelevant.
Our country's founders cherished liberty, not democracy. The Constitution
guarantees a republican form of government; the word "democracy"
does not appear. Its authors knew that majority fervor would threaten freedom,
so they created a republic designed to strictly limit the size and scope
of government. Accordingly, the Constitution is replete with undemocratic
mechanisms. Obvious examples are the First Amendment and the electoral
college system.

Common Sense
by Thomas Paine
Written & published anonymously in January of 1776 by Thomas Paine
an English-American writer and political pamphleteer ( b.
Jan. 29, 1737, Thetford, Norfolk, Eng. d. June 8, 1809, New York, N.Y.,
U.S.), Common Sense was an instant best-seller, both in the colonies
and in Europe It went through several editions in Philadelphia, and was
republished in all parts of United America. Because of it, Paine became
internationally famous. The work is commonly regarded as the spark that
ignited the American Revolution.
Maintaining "The cause of America is in a great measure the cause
of all mankind," Paine passionately argued for independence from Great
Britain and the ability of the young country to prosper unfettered by the
oppressive and economically draining English. An instant bestseller, this
popular pamphlet set the foundation for the Declaration of Independence
and ultimately the Revolutionary War.
Fighting to preserve our inalienable rights to
individiual freedom, Independent thought, free will,
free speech, self determination, & the pursuit of happiness as we see
fit.
A primary principal of Freedom is that each individual American has
the RIGHT to pursue HAPPINESS in their own fashion, to determine for themselves
that which is the object of their happiness and to take their own course
to that end no matter how objectionable it is to another. There is no constitutional
or Governmental guarantee however to the achievemnt of this happiness,
simply the right to pursue it.
It is resolved that the vast melting pot of America will produce individuals
and groups that may propagate ideas of Freedom that are contrary to beliefs
of other Americans, and are indeed in direct conflict with same. It is
the belief that these differences, these opposing view points are the basis
that makes America great and therefore should be encouraged as they create
debate and discussion and through the crucible of time; change, growth, enlightenment
and evolution creating a society of greatness, a society of inclusion and
diversity co- existing, learning and advancing above and beyond that which
man or civilization has achieved or envisioned thus far. This advancement
of The American dream is made through the work and input of the totality
of it's citizens and is not guaranteed or the responsibility of a centralized
government.
It is acknowledged that this idea of pursuit of happiness and freedom
of expression are not new ones, and are indeed the brick and mortar that
American ideas of Freedom and the republic are based. It should also be
understood that these rights can not inherently be abused. We believe that
any stand or point of view may be expressed and given to the general populous
for consideration in any form be it verbal, written or otherwise. It is
also our belief that each stand or point of view be open to debate among
the populous, and that any perceived abuse of the system or rights of pursuit
of happiness and free speech occurs only when those with opposing views
DO NOT SPEAK OUT against the stated views, as silence equals acceptance.
It is accepted that for various reasons, that concurrence among those vastly
different viewpoints concerning any issue be it personal. social, political
, religious or otherwise will never converge into a mutual agreed upon
doctrine. These opposing individuals or groups have the equal right to
exist, however points of contention may occur when an individual or group
oppresses or denies through force the rights of the other. Certain groups
or individuals might claim such oppression even though none exists. There
are those groups or individuals that seek power through oppression and
denial of the others individual rights, there are those groups or individuals
that would deceive and take advantage of others. It is because of these
groups and individuals that a governing body is formed, to act in the interest
of society at large and to represent this society. This body creates laws
and the processes by which these laws are enacted. This body comprised
of persons elected by the populous are PUBLIC SERVANTS, and should represent
the people as a whole and not their own or a specific groups interests.
This however to often is not the case, and it is the PRICE OF FREEDOM that
each individual remain diligent and attentive to matters at hand and to
resolve not to become complacent of their officials at any level, to understand
that the basic human nature of man is to be self serving, and at best imperfectly
rational.
We believe that any individual under certain circumstances is capable of
any action, we believe that good people do bad things and make poor judgments,
we also believe that redemption is possible, but true redemption is unlikely,
for vanity and self denial are also human nature.
We at the Bowen Freedom Foundation welcome all points of view, we also
encourage individuals to listen and not just speak for the sake of hearing
themselves speak, for it is this idea of listening that will open the mind
to new ideas, and growth that could over time lead to the society of greatness
through independent thought, free will, self determination, tolerance,
patience, inclusion & diversity co- existing, learning and advancing
above and beyond that which man or society has achieved or imagined thus
far.
